On April 7, 2023, the second lecture on the 24th Sophia Humanities Festival of the School of Philosophy of the University of Science and Technology of China was successfully held. This lecture was “Reflecting on the Development of Artificial Intelligence from the Perspective of Chinese Philosophy” brought by Bai Tongdong. Let us cooperate to give a lecture:
Speak Introduction
Although the progress of artificial intelligence represented by Alfago and ChatGPT has far surpassed our imagination of the tasks that machines can accomplish in the era of automation, today’s artificial intelligence does not have any intelligence, and its concern for strengthening artificial intelligence is a waste of time. However, reflection on strong artificial intelligence can still promote our exploration of some of the most basic human problems—such as intelligence, language, and people.
From the perspective of Chinese philosophy, the concern about whether strong artificial intelligence can replace and destroy humans can bring prejudice to Eastern civilization. However, Mencius’s understanding of people’s existence also has problems. In the challenge of existing artificial intelligence, what we should strengthen is not creative teaching, but hard memorization and trial teaching. The development of artificial intelligence can strengthen economic dissatisfaction, and the Female College Students’ Care Club can solve this problem by strengthening the responsibility and interests of elites, which happens to be a contribution of Confucian political philosophy.
In the first half of the lecture, Bai Tongdong taught his article “Reflecting on the Development of Artificial Intelligence from the Perspective of Chinese Philosophy” to distribute his friends’ views on artificial intelligence. Professor Bai Tongdong pointed out that this article was written in 2019 by discussions and concerns about AlphaGo, and is a view of artificial intelligence from the perspective of Chinese philosophical thinking. He believes that most of the ordinary sexual reflections on AlphaGo are equally suitable for Chat GPT.
01 Artificial intelligence does not have intelligence yet
Whether it is AlphaGo or ChaThe launch of GPT has set off a wave of worrying about artificial intelligence, and people will worry about whether artificial intelligence can replace humans. However, Professor Bai Tongdong pointed out that artificial intelligence has not had real intelligence so far, and they can only do tasks that are pre-designed by humans, and AlphaGo and Chat GPT are the same.
Take AlphaGo as an example, AlphaGo can defeat the best chess player in the world in chess, but if we choose to play Chinese chess with it, we can win it. After it learns Chinese chess, we can choose to compete with it and jump to beat it.
So what is human intelligence? A very important key in human intelligence is to continuously adjust its own goals based on environmental and internal changes, and then design a sensory and intelligent path based on this goal. “By nature, human beings are not natural!” Human nature is to be able to violate any specified nature, and human nature happens to be unnatural.
The manifestation of human intelligence lies in the fact that one can always make a new choice, and intelligence is not correct. Human self-choice can lead to a clumsy and wrong consequence, which cannot be achieved by artificial intelligence.
American philosopher Alva Noë, who teaches at Berkeley, California, has a good idea of this: the clock does not really understand time, but we humans use it to distinguish time. Similar to this, AlphaGo does not understand the chess itself. It is just completing the pre-designed tasks. It is just that we call its manipulation “play chess”, and artificial intelligence itself does not have intelligence. Ava Noy pointed out: “Even the simplest life sentiment, like the Amoeba, also shows some kind of intelligence, autonomy, creativity, which even goes beyond the strongest computer.” According to his statement, the Amoeba is smarter because it can change and create its own preservation environment.
Of course, it can also be said that Amoeba has a certain goal – survival, but “survival” is a very vague goal, and AinvestigationlphaGo’s goal is more clear: it has clear rules and basic strategies, and does not require people to participate in it. The winning standards of the judgment allow AlphaGo to perform large-scale independent calculations and learn by itself during the process of intensive care. We have confirmed that artificial intelligence has exceeded the limitations of machines that were only able to do automation (mechanical tasks) or calculations, but we must also understand that seemingly creative results such as AlphaGo and Chat GPT are actually designed by already designedMission formed.
At present, artificial intelligence is still a weak artificial intelligence, and strong artificial intelligence has not yet been seen. More clear and compelling challenges for humans come from gene editing and climate heatShort-term maintenance problem, not unstoppable strong artificial intelligence. In this scenario, the view that we are now jealous of artificial intelligence that we are now jealous of after gaining intelligence and replacing humans.
02 Strong artificial intelligence and Chinese philosophy: creating super humans?
However, one of the characteristics of philosophy is to explore some seemingly unintentional problems, such as Top online single time two popular topics in the British and American philosophical world—Zombies and Time View. Reflection on this seemingly unintentional problem can stimulate our thinking about human-based philosophy. From this perspective, it is meaningless to be careless.
Bai Tongdong teaches that according to personal experience, Dongdong has obvious differences in this “happiness”. Almost all descriptions about the future in the Hollywood movie are human beings who have destroyed the advancement of technology. As long as a small number of people survive someone fighting the machine they invented; while this theme in the Chinese science fiction movie novel is not so obvious, technology is not a secret or destroying the world.
From this we can see that Oriental’s understanding of technological progress is not bad at most, and the public seems to be more optimistic about the development of science and technology. Why are East Oriental’s attitudes different about technology and the future world? Bai Tongdong taught a guess that this can be related to the development of modern science in history. Modern science has first developed in the East, and in the process of receiving and following it, Dongya is very able to generate a non-sensual respect for science. “Science” is considered “progressive” and “good” in Dongya.
Another point, among the four modern civilizations, Chinese modern civilization does not exist with the world-destructive elements. This is because there is no purely good or purely evil gods in Chinese modern civilization, and there is no world-famous saying – a world that can be created by God can be destroyed by God. And Eastern Christianity has a myth of birth, accompanied by this myth of birth,There is a myth of the world’s great destruction, “Norya Square Ship”, which brings world’s destruction to Oriental people for the progress of technology.
That is what cultivates people, or what is the most basic characteristic of people?
Descartes, the founder of the modern Eastern philosophy, proposed in the fifth part of his “Methods” that the difference between humans and birds is that people have language and sensibility. Language refers to the differences that can respond to the divergent scenes through different words. This is exactly what Chat GPT has made many people pay attention to the concern; sentiment is something that helps us adapt and generate goals in different situations. AlphaGo seems to have done the work that can only be done by human sensibilityTaiwan Nursing Network.
But not all thinkers believe that human nature lies in language and sensibility. Back to the Chinese philosophy field taught by Bai Tongdong, the pre-Qin Confucian Confucian thinker Mencius had a different understanding of “what man is human” – to Mencius, the most basic difference between man and birds is not the wisdom and the heart of the mind and the benevolence on it.
“The reason why everyone is unbearable to others is that when the ancients first saw that a child would enter a well, they all have a fear and obsession. It is not because of the inner relationship between the child’s parents, it is not because of the fact that he s TC:
